The waitress/bartender seemed rather new but she did do a good job taking care of us. The food was delicious and filled with flavor. I also tried a couple different Indian beers. Can’t wait to return to try more dishes.

Further, the customer service was amazing! Very hospitable. The buffet style was quite different than what we're use to. However, I love the strategy to serve the dishes that we'd like to eat, instead of self-serving. It's different. But it seems to work well. And I embrace it. :) We'll definitely be back.

The employees load a tray up with whatever of the options you want, I believe there were 8 mains, 2 rices, and a handful of toppings as well. Great service very kind and helpful considering I don’t know much about Indian food aside from butter chicken.

I like the option to have two curries, rice, whatever of the cold bar and bread (like naan but it wasn’t called that) is a steal. We also got the lemonade but it was salty but kinda like an electrolyte drink so I didn’t mind it but it did spook me a little at first.

We ordered the 'curtain raiser' app, tandoori chicken tikka, and the chicken biryani. I also had the hot chai. I wish that did have more flavor. But each course was amazing! 10/10 experience. We'll be back for the buffet hours.

I also ordered ginger tea because I felt like I might be coming down with a cold, and it was incredibly tasty and made me feel much better. Next time, I’ll come back with my wife. Veggie Samosa, Veggie Fried Rice, White Rice, Chicken Biryani, Lamb Kebob, and Chicken Tikka Masala are all fantastic as well, particularly loved the savory and tender perfectly-seasoned lamb! Orders over $30 come with complimentary Kheer, which is great, and we got the Gulab Jamun as well, which is excellent!

The service is amazing, the food is FANTASTIC, and the smell of fennel or fenugreek when you walk is is delightful. Go!! Or order pick up! You will not be disappointed. I especially love the Chaat Papri without the crisps and with extra yogurt:) The Naan filled with Potatoes and peas is MY Favorite! And the Samosas….sauces…Tikka Masala I mean…it’s all great now- I’m going to drink their Mango juice and I can’t wait to get home and eat!

I got the Paratha and the Vegetable Jalfrezi Naan Pizza, and both were absolutely delicious. The flavors were bold, fresh, and so satisfying! It had great flavor and I will definitely be back. If you have the opportunity to eat at Rajput in Greenbrier, I would encourage it on a massive scale! Portions were more than this 220lb guy could finish. The picture is only half of what I got.

We really liked the lamb korma and kadhai, the goat dhansak (lentils), but our favorite was the creamy palak paneer. Spiced to your preference. Try the thick mango lassi. Our new go to!

Unfortunately, the dish was completely tasteless this time. I shared my feedback with the guy at the front desk, and he was incredibly helpful. He communicated my concern to the chef and had a new plate made, but sadly, it still lacked flavor. I ended up packing the food and taking it home, only to throw it away later. I’m not sure what’s changed in the kitchen, but the food quality was very disappointing.

Staff was attentive and friendly. It would be nice if the tables were larger, because there are many plates and bowls when eating, and it can become very crowded at the table. Appreciate that you can choose meat, fish, tofu, and vegetables to eat with the different sauces. **Make sure when ordering your wait staff is clear on the spice level of your food. I don't eat spicy food , but our wait staff placed my order at a spice level three. The wait staff did offer a white creamy mixture to add to the food to lessen the spicy taste. It did help but was discouraging because it took away from the taste of the dish. Decor is beautiful and relaxing. Would recommend coming as soon as they open, because it does fill up rather quickly. This place is a must for good Indian cuisine. Update Restaurant moved from Harbour View to across from Lidl. Smaller location, but for some reason, the tables and booth appear bigger. I did not realize how much I missed Rajput until the restaurant wasn't there. The food is still amazing. Service is wonderful. Buffet at 1130 every day with a change in selection is a great. This is a wonderful place to start if you have never eaten Indian cuisine Oh my goodness, they have vegan options and vegan days. Prices, as with everything, have increased.

I love trying a variety a dishes, and this helped me to figure out what I like. The daal tadka, fried cauliflower, and rice pudding were my favorite! The employees were super helpful when I needed assistance in choosing foods I wasn't allergic to.

The people smile and are so nice (which is rare these days) atmosphere is so relaxing so beware of getting too comfy after experiencing all that this restaurant has to offer. I had the mango tofu (substituted with chicken) and I enjoyed every last bite. Also the mango daiquiri could have easily passed for dessert.

I liked how you use a tray for the food to keep everything separated. I wish the had a few other items on the buffet like samosas and some gulab jamun, but it was all delicious and I will definitely be back.

We were seated immediately, and our drink order was taken. Soon after that we placed our food order with a very nice young lady. I had curry lamb chops, and my husband had tikka misala chicken. Both were absolutely divine. Generous portions, meat seasoned to perfection even without the sauce, and the Naan garlic bread was the perfect compliment. We both had plenty food to take home, and the carryout tins are perfect to pop in the oven for reheating. I am so glad I found this place and will be back to try every single dish. Next up, green curry lamb chops! Great staff, great food, great experience.

Everley895 days agoI had their Chicken Biryani which was a large portion of delicious savory seasoned saffron rice loaded with spicy marinated chicken, caramelized onions, and a yogurt sauce on the side. It was also pleasantly topped with an egg. I asked them to make it spicy to kick up the flavor another notch. Yummy 😋 Atmosphere is non-fussy and unassuming. Front counter service very nice people. I liked that they had a variety of bottled drinks such as lychee, mango & coconut drinks, as well as a mango smoothie which looked good. Some beer and wine too, including the Rupee Pilsner. Thanks I'll be back again when I'm in the area!

They recently brought beautiful dishes from India that made the meal so much more enjoyable. My boy friend and I got the Lamb Vindaloo and Tikka Masala with an appetizer of garlic naan. It was so delicious! I also recommend the Chai tea to enjoy with your curry. We were welcomed right away with kind staff and had a wonderful conversation with the manager.

Nice atmosphere with the music, and it's a good volume because we were a group of 6 and could all hear each other just fine. The restaurant is right in between 2 other great restaurants. Service Our waitress was very helpful in helping us pick something new and it was delicious. All the staff was very friendly. Our waitress and someone else checked in with us to make sure we everything was good. One of our plates was missing and he quickly went to the kitchen and got it. Food We're always happy with our choices. I had the Chicken Tikka Misala level 2 (medium) heat/spicy, so good. We ordered basket if the Naan variety for the table, those are delicious too. We also ordered an extra bowl of rice. We ordered Biryani with potato. It was delicious! The spices were so good. It was level 2 so not too spicy. It looked like a pot pie, because they bake a bread layer over it. Inside was rice with whatever you pick, could be a protien or vegetable. I could've gotten better photos, but everything was so good we ate it so quickly. This isn't fast food, so it takes little while like any restaurant cooking to your order. Parking There's plenty of parking, just the front area is small. The side of the building has plenty more. There's 3 restaurants in that short strip so that front parking gets full quick. Groups We had a group of 6, that doesn't seem too big to me, but the chairs and tables can move. There's also some booth tables available. They've always been very hospitable to us. They were easily able to give us all individual checks and we paid at the table. Your receipt can be printed receipt, emailed or texted to you. The tables are little narrow so ours got really crowded, but thats not a too big a deal. We just were careful not to knock something off. But that's also expected with a group of 6. More There is a small bar, but I've never ordered drinks here before. There's wine available too. They also had a TV playing sports, but it was muted. There's a separate room for private events. They serve a buffet during lunch. Take out is also available.

They’re open six days a week from 11am to 3pm and 4pm to 9pm Tuesday closed. The cook the food with their own spices so the flavor of the food is traditional. You can find food from Afghans foods, naan’s and biryani and hot drinks and shakes also. There customer service is excellent. You can dine in,take out also. My brother and I both ordered the vegetarian Thali plates which included a choice of vegetarian entrees and a salad and sauces. I selected mixed vegetables and paneer for my entrees, and mixed lettuce, pickled onions and shredded coconut slaw for my salad and mint chutney for my sauce. I also made an order for 1 garlic naan to share with my brother. He ordered the same salad but mixed vegetables and Channa Masala for his entrees. Both Thali plates come with either fried vegetable rice or basmati rice and roti. Flavors were delicious, perfect spice level on the mixed vegetables and Channa Masala. I particularly loved the paneer. It had a lovely taste and perfect firmness with a nice citrus brightness. The garlic naan was exactly as I love, plenty of garlic and perfect thickness. I also completely enjoyed an after-lunch cardamom chai, you should try one! The owner, Paul, is a genuine joy to talk with and an awesome chef. Overall this was an excellent experience and I will return if in the area again. Thank you for a great experience Rajput.

They do not have servers/waiters- You order food at the counter and can see and choose from different toppings and items depending on your dish. Some items are prepared fresh in back and take a few minutes but worth the wait! They have a self serve canned and bottled beverage cooler, even offering a few wine and beer items. Check them out!

If you get the Naan bread go ahead and scoop up some of that sauce. You won't regret it. Four stars on the food because we ordered the tandoori chicken wings and honestly they are just six overcooked wings with a little sauce and they charge $12 for that. That wasn't worth it. Service was good. But we were not offered any kind of beverage and only given a glass of water. I will be back.

The Norfolk location is amazing and the street vendor option that Chesapeake offers is right what I needed and expected. The flavors were authentic and delicious. The owner was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. The menu options are great and you can really tell the quality of ingredients in the dishes as soon as they hit the table. Give the typical street vendor foods a try, like the Aloo gobhi, the vegetable samosa, the tikka Masala chicken curry bowl and butter chicken. Pick up some roti and garlic naan to go with your food! You won’t be disappointed!

Tastiest shrimp biryani in town, with large tender pieces of shrimp! The vegetable samosas were filling, cooked perfectly, and not greasy like most places we've had here. The garlic naan was also amazing, and we highly recommend that anybody gets when they visit. And the most wonderful thing was the manager special made lamb korma and it was fantastic! The food, the service and the value was top knotch and if I could rate Rajput higher, I would!

Rajput provides customers the 'fast casual' approach (similar to Chipotle) in terms of their style of ordering. They provide a step-by-step process of what you can add. They also provide premade selections as well. I went ahead and went with a naan wrap. Exceptionally tasty, and loaded with flavor. The wraps are about 16" long so you can practically split the thing with two people. The staff are friendly, they don't speak loudly, but are willing and able to assist you, especially since the culinary is not familiar with the majority of locals; so, don't be afraid to go for it and ask what they would suggest to pair with your selection. Not much space inside, but the furniture is sturdy and the place is clean. I would also suggest trying one of the fried pyramid-shaped balls they have. Overall, you can't get delicious food like this on-the-go in Chesapeake so I definitely would love to see this little restaurant stay.

We saw they opened back on the 3rd and decided to stop in. We each had the same thing, hilarious enough. We started with the vegetable fried basmati rice, which was ever fragrant with spices. Piled on top was the Chana masala, with its "meaty"portions of chick peas and grana masala spices. We both added butter chicken, rich and savory gravy, and the chicken appears to be skewered and cooked in house. Finally, we added a small refreshing salad, I opted for a samosa too (crispy and stuffed with peas and potatoes), and we each armed ourselves with hearty dipping sauces (tangy yogurt, mint for me and sweet and sour tamarind) for our lentil chips (papidad). Lastly...the Naan. Oh the garlic Naan! Served piping hot and sprinkled with just the right amount of garlic, butter and parsley. A perfect quick stop for food and a great substitute for the more expensive, and snootier Indian restaurants. A preferred go to for street food!

My only comment is that I feel for it to taste more like traditional Indian food, there should be more spice. People who like and enjoy Indian food are used to it being hot. There a good amount of food for the bowl and it was hot and delicious. The garlic Naan was exceptional! Lots of vegetarian options great atmosphere. Perfect for a quick delicious sit down meal!

For appetizer we ordered Garlic Cilantro Naan, so delicious. We ordered another round for dinner. I ordered the Chicken Malai Kebab, cooked perfectly, with grilled vegetables and a side of masala sauce. Not as many items, but the 8 items had very good quality and flavor. Butter chicken was very smooth and dal tadka was full of flavor. I'm not a lentle/bean guy, but Dal Makni (lentle stew) was just out of this world! Bombay potato was Cooked just right melting on my mouth. The spinach padkra was crunchy and tasty. Tandoori chicken was cooked just right, soft with smoky flavor! The ambiance was clean and the service was good. The price was about $15/person. Will definitely keep going back.

We both agree that the quality of food has really improved noticeably. The flavor of the butter chicken was really good, and everything tasted better. To make things better, they even lowered the lunch price! The only improvement they could make is probably to sprinkle cinnamon in the sweet rice pudding, but that's not a big deal. Otherwise, everything was great! Thanks for making our lunch pleasant!

I found out recently they do lunch buffets so I went today with my toddler- butter chicken addict. He DEVOURED two bowls of the chicken and right before we left, I believe one of the owners a younger gentleman had come out and interacted with my kid and found out about his addiction 😂 The young man ran back to the kitchen and came back with a big bowl of butter chicken and rice to take home FOR FREE so my baby can eat it later. The young man proceeds to tell my boy that the butter chicken is on the house for him every time he visits and for a mom to have her previous baby treated with kindness and respect was the best experience - cheery on top! Food was DELICIOUS and so fresh- the hospitality and the taste both made me miss home!

Not a single mistake. Again the BEST. I always order chicken Korma, butter chicken or Pallak paneer (the spinach and tofu)

Posted on GoogleA Chio1770 days agoReally good Indian food near Portsmouth. I ordered chicken tikka masala and saag paneer which came with basmati rice. I also ordered coconut rice and blue crabmeat biriyani which was so fragrant and delicious. They have really large portions. We came to pickup for dinner but it looks like they have a lunch buffet too. If you’re craving Indian food, this is the place to go!

Posted on GoogleErick L.1783 days agoAmazing Indian cuisine. The Naan bread is so good. This was my first time here. The Biryanni Chicken.(rice with chicken) is extremely flavorful and aromatic. I asked for mild since i dont like spicy foods. Mild is good does have a tingle but nothing too strong. The flavors alone are worth the try. I will definately recomend and be back.

Our Bartender was name Basil and he made us some delicious drinks (Singapore Sling). The food was awesome and very flavorful. We will visit again and those vegetable plants. Basil grows them himself outside the restaurant. Green thumb to you Sr.!

They offered different levels of spice to suit the different tolerance levels. The server was nice and gave great recommendations, but was very busy as he was helping with many aspects and other tables. We will return again.

All tables were sanitized and spaced apart to maintain 6 feet distance, so dining in the restaurant felt safe. The reason I gave 4 stars is because of the quantity of the food. Last time (pre-covid) I remember the quantity was good and much more than what I got this time. It looked as if I was serving myself from the dish ordered, rather than the whole order itself. Other than that I was really happy with the food and the service.

This was the second time I’ve been to the Suffolk location and it was by far my best experience ever. The food was EXCEPTIONAL, the wait staff was friendly and fast. The baked chips and chutney was an excellent touch (their take on bread and butter).

Customer service was very good as they were very friendly and invited with smile. They explained about not having menu for Lunch because of buffet and it is good that they do not have it and you definitely do not need it as they have lots of varieties of food that you would want to taste from buffet. Price is very reasonable for the food they offer in buffet. I loved the place and would be back if I am in the town. Keep up the service and food.

I went with a 4 and it wasnt any hotter than a good Jerk Chicken. Dont get me wrong, you felt it, but it was a good heat. This a def be back.

Based on my observations dishes are made to order and I recommend calling the restaurant ahead of time for those dishes which may require additional preparation and cooking time. Highly recommend.

I would DEFINITELY be eating here quite often if I still lived in the area. I ordered an Iced tea with my my meal, never recieved it..and my water glass was never offered a refill during my visit...hence the 4 star review. The food carried the whole review, service was less than stellar.

Lot of people think that spicy is all about hot food but actually the right spicy is rich in flavor and aroma which I liked in food served at Rajput Indian Cuisine. Great clean interior and comfortable seating made me sit for longer and enjoy music as well. We will certainly visit again and recommend this strongly to all.

The restaurant is awesome and very cool, the owner is kind and hospitable, and the food is to die for. My favorite is Chicken Korma with Vegetables. Best tasting thing. If you come here you won't regret it!

The Basmati rice (or Jasmine, I can't remember which) was super tender and was a perfect bed for the chicken. The service was great. I also found a new favorite sweet; the candied fennel at the register. It tastes like licorice, which I love! The atmosphere is great, bathrooms are clean. My only complaint would be the water pressure in the bathroom sink.

It was a little pricey for my taste, but worth it all things considered. The staff was very friendly and they do offer a military discount!

Make your own bowl type thing, which was great for introducing Indian food to the kids. They also have a naan wrap, which is a great idea! On a whim, I stopped here for dinner (not the buffet) and will say that I really couldn’t have been more impressed. The restaurant and restrooms were very clean, which is something I generally consider important. But the food here really stands out as being great. The few dishes I tried (Tandoori chicken and tiger jumbo shrimp madras) were both excellent and had awesome flavor. If you like spicy food, you can definitely get some heat here if you want. The garlic naan was great, too, however my only real critique would be that I would prefer a little thicker naan, but that is just my personal preference.
